Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2

By Jonny Byrne

It’s finally over and so for the second time in four years, fans are mourning the end of the Harry Potter series. The final film instalment, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 has been released worldwide and already box office revenue records are being broken left, right and centre, that of course was inevitable. But does the film live up to its hype and expectations and is it an adequate goodbye for a franchise that has spanned the last 14 years?

Bridesmaids

By Maisie Buchan

Several times when a film has a lot of hype surrounding it, it can let you down, and Bridesmaids has certainly had a lot of it. This movie has been
slated as a ‘must see’ down to the fact that it’s funny, oh and it happens to be written by and mainly starring women. At first I found this patronising, adamant this wasn’t something new, what about Tina Fey or Ruth Jones? Jennifer Aniston’s perfect comic timing in Friends? However, as much as I tried it’s hard to think of many good female heavy comedy movies.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon

By Jonny Byrne

As a boy born in the 80’s I am obviously a Transformers fan, we all are. So when Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg teamed up to release their first Transformers film in 2007 I rushed out to see it and was not disappointed. The 4 year old in me even sat through the sequel in 2009, despite it ruining the first due to its lack of storyline direction, embarrassing new characters and action scenes that were so headache inducing and hard to follow that you came out of the cinema feeling nauseous, not even Megan Fox’s looks could cover up her inability to act believably. I was optimistic though when the latest instalment was announced, mainly because the four year old in me is naïve and the adult in me is thick. So has Bay managed to improve on his last Transformers film?

Not even a biblical swarm of Green Fly could deter me from Hyde Park this Sunday for the 7th annual Wireless Festival; not with Pulp headlining.

Animals Who Think They're People

By Maisie Buchan

Whilst on my way to the swimming pool the other day I saw a man in a high viz jacket speeding down the road on a skateboard. Oh sorry, did I say a man? I meant a dog…
